The videogame STARDEW VALLEY in occitan

PRESENTATION PACK

This file presents the original Stardew Valley game and its adaptation in Occitan, Vau Serena.

HOW TO INSTALL

Wanna play Vau Serena? Follow me!

You must have a copy of the original Stardew Valley game and have access to the game files. We then offer you two different methods to install Vau Serena.

First step: Buy Stardew Valley! If you have’nt already purchased and installed the game, choose one of the stores below:

Note: it’s because you need, for the installation, to have access to the game’s files that Vau Serena is only available on PC (Windows, MacOs and Linux), as well as in a very theoretical way on Android… if you’re up for the adventure !

Method n°1

The first method is the most “brutal”… But nothing serious! It consists in replacing all the files of a language of the game (Spanish in this case) by those in Occitan. It’s the simplest method. Note however that you will probably have to re-download and reinstall Vau Serena‘s files if Stardew Valley undergoes a big update. Note also that you can return to the basic version of the game at any time by reinstalling it (your backups will be kept). Finally, it is possible that with this method some elements will remain uninstalled, but it will be quite marginal, and nothing will spoil the experience of Stardew Valley in Occitan!

1.

Click on the “Download Vau Serena” button below.

2.

Unzip the downloaded folder (7Zip or else).

3.

Access the game installation directory on your computer. Here are some default paths for the most common installations, yours is surely included:

Windows (via Steam)

C: \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley

Windows (via GOG)

C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Stardew Valley

ou bien

C:\GOG Games\Stardew Valley

Mac (via Steam)

~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Stardew Valley/Contents/MacOS

Mac (via GOG)

/Applications/Stardew Valley.app/Contents/MacOS

Linux (via Steam)

~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley

Linux (via GOG)

~/GOGGames/StardewValley/game

Note: this manipulation only affects the Spanish files of the game, nothing else is affected. You can remove Vau Serena at any time by reinstalling Stardew Valley in its original state.

4.

If your operating system requests it, agree to overwrite ALL the files involved.

5.

Launch Stardew Valley.

6.

If the game does not initially start in Occitan, click on in the main menu, then select .

Method n°2

Method 2 is a little more complex because it requires the installation of other applications, but it’s also more flexible. It considers Vau Serena as a “mod”, i.e. a modifier file that “grafts” itself on the original game and must be executed by a specific launcher. This installation process is not sensitive to updates of the base game and will work in all circumstances. When playing Vau Serena with this device, Occitan will be the only playable language but everything will be translated. Note however that you’ll have a manipulation to perform on Steam if you want to activate the achievements.

1.

To download the Vau Serena mod, go to its page at NexusMods. Everything is explained.

2.

Download and install the latest version of SMAPI.

Note: SMAPI stands for “Stardew Modding API”. It is a small utility that will allow you to play Stardew Valley with modifications created by the community, Vau Serena but also many others!

3.

Download and install Content Patcher.

Note : Content Patcher is a “mod” that allows you to upload content that smoothly modifies Stardew Valley. For Vau Serena it’s the insurance to play with stable files, up to date, and which do not damage the basic files of the game.

4.

Unzip the Vau Serena mod downloaded in 1. in your “Mods” subdirectory of your “Stardew Valley” game directory.

5.

Launch Stardew Valley with SMAPI.

+.

Tip: If you use an AZERTY keyboard, as soon as you can in the game, take a look at the settings (ESC + ) and change the keys assigned to the controls. Stardew Valley is by default configured according to a QWERTY keyboard.

Have a good game!

LEXICON

Are you lost? Don’t you understand everything that’s said in Vau Serena? Don’t panic, if you’re familiar with Fench, I’ll let you know that most of the Occitan vocabulary used in the game appears in the French -> Occitan-limousin lexicon, a free online dictionary created by (and myself).

Click on the button below to open the glossary directly, then search through the definitions.

ENCYCLOPEDIA

New! Some people told me that they’ve had some difficulty understanding what this or that object was. So I made, also for Occitan teachers that might be interested, a huge encyclopedic table of objects and characters from the game, arranged by type. It is a good complement to the dicod’Òc lexicon mentioned above and to the official game’s Wiki. Take a look at it!
